5 questions for you...
1. What's the best advice you’ve ever given or received?
The best advice I've received comes from two spiritual advisers, one being my late father, who always told me to "stay ready." It was his reminder that I should always be prepared and equipped with a positive, action-oriented attitude so that when opportunities come, I won't be caught off-guard. Recently, I was also advised that "interruptions are introductions" and that my "perspective determines your position." All of this advice reminds me to expect the unexpected and to be ready to react positively and creatively when the unexpected arises.
2. How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is eclectic and feminine, with lots of little odes to my African-centered lifestyle and Pan-African heritage.
3. What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?
My two daughters are 2 & 1/2 and 1 year old and they are hilarious. They keep me cackling. I just finished wiping my eyes watching them bop exuberantly to Senegalese rap music.
4. What’s a productivity tip you swear by?
When I really want to focus on my writing or reading, I listen to Chopin or Vivaldi.
5. Think of the woman you most admire and name three qualities she exhibits.
My mom is the woman I adore the most. She is persistent, loyal, and she knows that she knows what she knows.
