How To Affordably Build Your Work Wardrobe

We've curated 9 pieces that make the perfect core workwear wardrobe.

Getting a new job or promotion is extremely exciting; however, when that is met with the added cost of needing to invest in a new workwear wardrobe, it can feel emotionally and financially daunting. We are here to help with just 9 pieces that you can turn into 24 different outfits so that you can have a complete work wardrobe. The trick? Investing in clothes that have coordinated color schemes, are made from similar materials, and have simple silhouettes that can be mixed and matched over and over again. Keep reading for our selection of 9 wardrobe essentials that will build your entire wardrobe so that you can spend your money on more important things.

Our formula:

2 dresses - both business appropriate but one more formal for big presentations and interviews and one more casual for days when you want a more relaxed look.

1 knit - for easy layering on chillier days when you don't want to be in a formal blazer.

1 Blazer - choose one that goes with all of your suiting so you can dress up any office look.

2 Tops – we recommend versatile shells in one light color and one dark color to complement any outfit

2 Pants - choose ones in different silhouettes

1 Skirt

We chose pieces that were made in our Italian Stretch suiting, so that all of the suiting pieces can be mixed and matched. Additionally, we chose a color scheme of black and white with a pop of green for when we want some color!

Dresses

The Pollock Dress

Pollock Dress

We love the Army Green shade of the Pollock, but it also makes the perfect LBD in Black.

The Juniper Dress

Black Juniper Dress

The Juniper Dress fits seamlessly into this wardrobe in Black, but it also comes in Navy, and Clover if you like a pop of color!

Tip: We chose dresses with completely different vibes, one sleek, more form-fitting silhouette, and one more feminine, A-line silhouette so that you have a dress option for any mood or setting.

The Amsterdam Cardigan

Amsterdam Cardigan

Our most popular cardigan comes in a massive range of colors starting with the Granite Grey featured above, along with Cream, Black, Burgundy, Marigold, and Peony.

Tip: We chose a color that coordinates with this collection (but isn't another black piece), so you can add some more versatility to your outfits!

The Prince Blazer V2

Prince Blazer

Our Prince Blazer made from an Italian Stretch Suiting and comes in Black and Navy.

Tip: This simple blazer is a closet staple and is the perfect building block to any suiting collection. Dress up any work outfit with this blazer or pair it with jeans and a t-shirt on weekends for a timeless off-duty outfit.

Tops

The Morris Top

Morris Top

This machine-washable, chiffon top comes in a vast range of colors including: Black, Ice Blue, Ivory, and Navy.

The Harrison Top

White Harrison Top

This relaxed, v-neck top comes in White and Earl Grey.

Tip: We chose tops with relaxed fits that can be worn tucked and untucked so you can have even more styling versatility. We recommend choosing one in a lighter shade and one in a darker shade to mix your wardrobe up even more!

Pants

The Lexington Pants V2

Lexington Pants V2

These wide leg pants made from our Italian Stretch Suiting pair perfectly with the rest of this wardrobe in Black.

The Hanover Pants

Army Green Hanover Pants

Our best-selling pants are the Goldilocks of pants (cropped but not too short, slim but not too tight) and come in Black, Navy, and Army Green.

Tip: If you are opting for two pairs of pants in your wardrobe, we recommend choosing two completely different fits so that you have a wider range of silhouettes. Additionally, if you like a pop of color, we personally love the Army Green Hanover pants that will still blend seamlessly with the rest of this wardrobe.

The Franklin Skirt

Black Franklin Skirt

This wool pencil skirt comes in Black and Navy and is on sale now!

Tip: We chose this classically tailored, simple pencil skirt because it goes with absolutely everything. You can look totally professional in any work setting and can be styled with a crop top and jacket for late night drinks.
