Empowering Women through Bottomless Closet

Of Mercer

Of Mercer & Bottomless Closet

We at Of Mercer know the challenges the modern workplace presents for women, and how important it is to support one another. That’s why we have initiated an ongoing effort to donate both new and unused clothing to Bottomless Closet to help women in-need entering or re-entering the workforce look and feel their best. For more than 20 years, Bottomless Closet has helped empower New York City women by creating an uplifting place where they can receive the tools and resources they need in order to reach professional success. Our donations will directly help them start or restart their professional journeys as their most confident selves.

The Bottomless Closet Experience

In August of 1996, the founders of Bottomless Closet read an article detailing the obstacles that mothers on public assistance faced when seeking work — including the lack of interview-appropriate clothing, confidence issues, and difficulty presenting themselves professionally in unfamiliar interview settings. They decided it was time to change that.

Upon their visit, each woman is paired up one-on-one with a volunteer career coach that will handle their appointment experience that includes:

- Personal styling to pick out professional clothing, shoes, and accessories for a strong first impression.
- In-house resume experts.
- Interview preparation, test questions, and mock-interviews to foster confidence and gain comfortability in professional atmospheres.

    Get Involved

If you want to help, but don’t have any wardrobe items you’re ready to part with yet, Bottomless Closet also accepts donations. If you’re in the New York City area, you can sign up to volunteer your time and help with clothing consultation, professional coaching, and more.
